Estranged Student Bursary at University College London (UCL) 2025
The Estranged Student Bursary at University College London (UCL) is designed to support UK nationals who are under 25 and estranged from their families. This bursary provides partial funding of GBP 1,000 per annum to assist students pursuing a full-time undergraduate degree in any subject offered by UCL.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Estranged Student Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be UK domiciled with Home fee status.
- Be under 25 years old.
- Be classified as an independent student on grounds of estrangement by Student Finance.
- Hold an offer for, or be currently enrolled in, a full-time undergraduate degree programme at UCL for the 2025/26 intake.
- Not be eligible for the Care Experienced Bursary.
Application Process
No separate application is required for the bursary. Applicants must:
- Apply for student finance with their Regional Funding Authority (Student Finance England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland).
- Submit a Confirmation of Estrangement Form for the academic year.
- Student Finance will assess and grant Independent status for estrangement.
- UCL receives confirmation and automatically assesses bursary eligibility.
- Award confirmation will be sent by October of the academic year.
Value and Benefits
The bursary offers:
- GBP 1,000 per year for the duration of the undergraduate programme (subject to age under 25).
- An advance payment of GBP 200 may be requested to assist with transition costs.
