Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme for Young Researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa - 2025

The Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme is designed for young researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa, providing an opportunity to undertake short-term research (1 to 3 months) at various prestigious universities in Europe. This initiative aims to support the academic and research endeavors of the scholars within their home institutions and to promote international academic collaboration.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must be born on or after January 1, 1980.
  • Applicants must be residents of Sub-Saharan Africa and current staff members at a university or equivalent higher education institution.
  • Candidates should hold a doctoral/postdoctoral or equivalent status.
  • An acceptance letter/email from the host institution's tutor/supervisor is mandatory.
  • Applications must be submitted in English using the Coimbra Group Office's electronic process, and only one university application is allowed.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship includes full funding, covering research funds and accommodation allowances, thereby reducing the financial burden on the scholars and facilitating a focus on their research activities.
