Bridging Scholarship Program 2026-27 Overview

The Bridging Scholarship Program 2026-27 is designed to support U.S. undergraduate students who wish to study abroad in Japan for a semester or an academic year. This scholarship is generously provided by the American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ) and offers partial funding ranging from USD 2,500 to USD 4,500.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled in an undergraduate program in any field of study.
• Studying the Japanese language is not a requirement.
• Applicants must be planning to study in Japan for at least three months and earn credits transferable to their home institution in the USA.
• Students who have already commenced their study abroad in Japan are not eligible.
